263 Development of secondary neoplasms in patients with nevus sebaceous

Introduction: Nevus sebaceous (NS) is a hamartoma composed of epidermal, dermal, follicular, and apocrine appendages found in the pediatric population. The current standard treatment full-thickness excision, but this controversial as much still unknown about malignant potential benign neoplasm. Secondary lesions associated with nevus include poromas, trichoblastomas, syringocystadenomas. purpose study to investigate patient characteristics patients NS incidence secondary neoplasms. Materials Methods: We conducted retrospective review electronic medical records at our academic institution all diagnosed past 7 years. 617 charts were reviewed, 73 have clinical/pathologic diagnosis NS. Results: Our cohort had an average age upon first consultation 10.18 +/- 5.23 59 white, African American, 2 Asian 3 Hispanic, race unknown. majority on their scalp (N=50). 40 underwent surgical excision for 6 (8.12%). most common lesion was verrucous papule, no or syringocystadenomas cohort. Discussion: showed that received NS, ultimately only eventually developed lesions. Further research must be into utility prevent development primary/secondary
